The Custom Wood Shop Came First

Kevin Danielson opened this company in 1978 building custom woodwork for high-end homes in northern Michigan. The remodeling came later. The shop is still here, and it is still the reason we take on work other contractors pass on. When a cabinet has to fit a wall that is out of square, or a piece of crown has to match a profile nobody manufactures anymore, we make it.

Why Homeowners Choose Us For Custom Wood Pieces

Old houses are not square

Stock cabinetry assumes a level floor, a plumb wall, and a standard ceiling. Farmhouses do not offer any of that. Building the piece lets us fit the house as it actually is.

We can match what is already there

Trim profiles, door styles, and stain colors on an older home can be matched instead of approximated.

It is one less company on your job

The millwork does not get ordered, delayed, and delivered wrong. It gets built by the same people doing your remodel.

Forty-eight years of doing it.

Kevin has more than 40 years in the trade and our lead installer, Peter, has 40 years of his own.

We handle the warranty fights

One year workmanship warranty, plus we deal with manufacturers on your behalf. When a client’s fixture failed and the manufacturer had discontinued the line, we went back to them and had the part refabricated. You should not have to sit on hold with a faucet company.

What We Build

Our Process

We come to you
No phone screening and no video call. We walk the kitchen with you, talk through what you want, and give you a free estimate based on what is actually in front of us.
It all starts with a free in home estimate. We come to you, walk the space together, and talk through your ideas, your goals, and your budget. This is where we get to know your home and you get to know the people who will be handling your project.
